Complete Surgery Center Complete Surgery Center Mesquite, TX Mesquite, TX Part-time PRN Part-time PRN $28 - $40 an hour $28 - $40 an hour 10 days ago 10 days ago 10 days ago Job Summary Under the direction of a radiologist and/or supervisor, the technologist will perform routine radiographic procedures administering ionizing radiation for diagnostic procedures.
Operates radiographic equipment, selects and modifies positioning of patients and equipment, develops images and maintains required records.
May be trained to perform special radiographic procedures.
Operates CR, DR, C-ARM, RIS, and PACS and is able to use all assigned functions.
Adheres to all clinical and department policies.
DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
1.
Ensure the highest level of patient care possible.
a.
Display respect and concern for all patients b.
Assist patients as needed throughout the clinic c.
Follow HIPPA guidelines 2.
Always verifies the appropriate procedure to be performed by checking the physician's orders on the patient's chart with the requisition, and contacts the physician if there are any discrepancies.
3.
Follows departmental procedure manual to ensure that all standard views are taken; refers to the requisition for any special instructions from the physician or Radiologist; always scans completely.
Ensures exams are complete in RIS and properly transferred on PACS.
Can order, edit and complete in RIS.
4.
Assists radiologists as directed to produce radiographic images for diagnosis; may be trained to provide services in a specialized area of radiology:
a.
positions patient as appropriate for various types of radiographic procedures and equipment b.
operates radiographic equipment as directed by radiologist according to acquired skills c.
adjusts equipment controls and techniques as required for radiographic images d.
ensures adherence to Radiology Procedures e.
assists physician with administering radio-opaque contrast media solutions 5.
Develops or assists with development of radiographic images using appropriate CR and DR procedures.
6.
Regularly checks equipment, accessories, and supplies; keeps area stocked at all times; cleans and disinfects equipment after each patient use; cleans area daily.
Maintaining QC & QA equipment/log in area/ Maintains Equipment Preventive Maintenance.
7.
Renders first aid to radiology patients when necessary; notifies appropriate personnel of emergency situations.
8.
May assist in clinical practicum training of students, and evaluates their performance, if requested.
9.
Obtains supplies as needed from various storage areas; maintains adequate inventory of supplies for an assigned area; notifies supervisory personnel of supply shortages and equipment malfunctions.
10.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in radiological societies.
11.
Demonstrates an ability to solve job-related problems such as:
equipment malfunctions, alternate patient positioning, different views, and the realization of equipment and patient limitations.
12.
Follows all safety rules while on the job.
Reports accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards.
Communicates with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the workplace.
13.
Other duties as requested.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent with satisfactory completion of an American Medical Association (AMA) approved educational program in Radiologic Technology.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to function as a skilled general diagnostic technologist as required according to departmental standards.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
Registered in Radiologic Technology by a nationally recognized certifying body (ARRT preferred) or meets the requirements for registry eligibility.
A graduate technologist must become registered within their first year of employment.
Certified by the Texas Department of Health as a Medical Radiologic Technologist.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Medical Radiological Technologist Certificate from Texas Department of Health.
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
