Under general direction of the Customer Service Manager, the Customer Service Clerk II will be assigned:
to be responsible for processing all utility billing cycles; to maintain all utility billing accounts; assist with extensions, mail, night box, and deposits; maintaining department records and reports; assisting customers with utility billing inquiries, payments, etc.
; Perform duties of Customer Service Clerk I.
Individuals in this position have extensive public contact, both in person and through the telephone.
Tact, courtesy, and firmness are required.
Essential Job Functions:
? Provides customer service regarding utility billing and collections for residential and commercial customers.
Communicates with residents and business owners in person, by phone, and electronically through e-mail concerning their utility bills, and explains applicable policies and procedures.
? Assists in the weekly billing process for customers, creates and processes ACH payments, issues penalties on accounts, downloads and processes edits for meter reading handhelds, processes return checks, prepares weekly turn off list for non-payment on accounts, and handles special projects as required.
? Creates and completes work orders for utility billing customers, follows up to ensure completion.
and communicates with customers on the results of work orders.
? Performs clerical functions, such as but not limited to, processing utility billing payments, calculations, and monetary transactions, maintaining and updating the filing system.
? Maintains and schedules the weekly trash and recycle pickup/delivery list with the garbage company and updates customer accounts accordingly.
Maintains and updates the handicap customer list for the garbage company.
? Responds to customer inquiries and complaints regarding City utility bills and payments.
? Receives and processes applications for new water and/or wastewater service or changes in current service; creates or modifies customer accounts as necessary.
Processes new fire hydrant applications, bank draft forms, leak adjustment forms, and creates and processes payment arrangement agreements for customers as needed.
? May perform receptionist duties such as, but not limited to, directing visitors to the correct department, contacting staff members when a visitor arrives for appointments, receiving mail and packages for the City and providing carriers with outgoing packages.
Provides vendors with checks received from the Purchasing Department.
? May perform other assignments and handle special projects, and other related duties, as required.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED At least 3 years of experience with heavy call center or performing administrative functions Preferred, Associates degree in related field.
A valid driver's license.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
